Jared Bistrong has been an educator and teacher for over 20 years and has a Master’s degree in Creative Writing and Education. For Jared, his sound healing experience grows out of real world environments. Sound healing and his teaching career have always been integrated since the beginning. His cultivation of ancient instruments as healing tools have always impacted his professional, social and spiritual life. He discovered the power of sound during his very first professional teaching experience while teaching poetry workshops to homeless teenagers living in youth shelters back in the mid 1990’s. Next, he spent a year teaching writing in a women's prison where he integrated drumming into the entire process. This began his journey as an educator and sound healer. He has since taught elementary, high school, and college age students, teaching a variety of subjects including writing, digital literacy, speech, drama, film, music and technology. Most recently, Jared spent 8 years as the Director of Instructional Design and Technology integration at Brown Mackie College where he designed the schools learning model and facilitated all faculty trainings. He has always utilized the power of sound in his work and has seen first hand the way sound has impacted thousands of students and dozens of learning communities. Ten years ago, instead of sound healing being the support for teaching other subjects, he began to facilitate workshops solely focused on using sound as a healing therapy, and he has since facilitated sound healing workshops all over the country and abroad and his work has been featured in print, radio and television. He is a certified group sound healer in the Non-Somatic Extraordinary Vessel healing system.
