Do you (or someone you know) have lower back pain or stiffness? Difficulty getting out of bed or putting on your shoes? Keep reading … Andrea Scarborough has designed a tried and true 4-week series to provide you with some general principles and a few simple yoga poses that may help you with overall lower-back maintenance and well-being.
The class will take place in a gently heated studio and is designed to move at a slower pace using props like straps and blocks to help you maintain safe alignment. It’s purposely scheduled 2 times per week over a period of 4 weeks because consistency is the key to making change.
7:00 pm – 8:00 pm Wednesdays & 8:00am – 9:00am Saturdays
$250 for entire four week series
In this 4-week series we will focus on:
1. Hamstring and inner leg stretches (tension in these areas needs to be addressed so that the pelvis can be in proper position not only in yoga postures but in daily life), as well as shoulder and upper chest stretching and mobility in your upper spine.
2. Hip opening poses that stretch the front and outside of your hips, and postures that stretch the quadriceps.
3. Core strengthening, which is essential for lower back comfort. We will focus on a few of the most effective exercises, all of which require very little spinal flexion to execute correctly.
4. Breathing. Deep, slow, smooth breaths help settle the inclination for the nervous system to overreact and helps facilitate spinal motion.
