Walking down the tropical hardwood hammock trail at dusk takes on a whole new meaning to the exploration of our natural areas. This hike offers the visitor a rare opportunity to view the woods and it’s wildlife as it comes to life at night. A Deering Education and Interpretive Staff Member will guide you through the trail to Cutler Creek where they will provide interesting facts about the Tequesta Indians. Listen for great horned owls and eastern screech-owls along the way.
After the Nite Hike, gather under the stars around a crackling fire by the bay and enjoy complementary s’mores! This month's Nike Hike will be accompanied by a flag retirement ceremony. Flag retirement is the term used to define the proper, dignified way of destroying United States flags that are no longer fit to serve the nation.
Cost: $15 per person; Free for Deering Estate Foundation Members. These specialized Night Hikes are free to military personnel and veterans with proper military ID.
